Rani Jamara Kularia Project inaugurates additional irrigation and hydropower projects

Kailali. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli today inaugurated additional irrigation, hydropower and transmission lines of Rani Jamara Kularia Irrigation Project.

Prime Minister Kp Sharma Oli inaugurated irrigation projects on 14,300 hectares of land and 4.71 MW hydropower and transmission lines.

Kailali: The irrigation canal at Katase of Janaki rural municipality-9 in Kailali has generated electricity and connected to the 33 kv transmission line. The second phase of Rani Jamara Kularia Irrigation Project, a project of national pride, has been completed and now the third phase of the project has started.

The project has been serving Tikapur, Lamkichuha and Janaki rural municipalities in the past, but in the third phase, it will expand irrigation and increase agricultural production in Bhajani, Joshipur, Bardagoria, Ghodaghodi and other municipalities.

Terming the project as a historic achievement in the development of Nepal’s water resources and rural agriculture sector, pm Oli said it would depict nepal’s rural lifestyle, agricultural production, energy self-reliance and food security.

Stating that the Rani Jamara Kularia system, which started 120 years ago with the collective efforts of the local farmers and traditional skills, has been expanded in a modern form, pm Oli said that the foundation of today’s success has been laid with the local participation and coordination of the government.

Prime Minister Oli directed the concerned bodies to complete the irrigation projects of national pride – Sikta, Babai, Mahakali III, Bheri-Babai and Sunkoshi-Marin Multipurpose Projects – as soon as possible.
