Sharma said that although they had given land for the hospital by loving the fields they used to do at the time of the construction of the hospital, it was sad that it has not come into operation now.
The newly constructed 15-bed Chandrakot Hospital is less than five minutes away from his house. However, Sharma has not been able to use it as they are waiting for the hospital to operate after the completion of the construction. He said that if the nearby hospital comes into operation, it will save time and money for others like him to travel to Butbal to get medicines.
“The hospital should come into operation soon,” Sharma said. He also provided four annas of land free of cost. The foundation stone of five, 10 and 15-bed basic hospitals was laid simultaneously in 396 municipalities across the country in 2077 BS.
Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Gyawali had laid the foundation stone of a 15-bed basic hospital at Chandrakot rural municipality-6. At present, the residents of Chandrakot are waiting for the operation of the hospital after the completion of the hospital.
Kumar Bahadur Sarki, a local, said they had to go to Palpa or Butbal for treatment as the hospital was not operational. He said the state and central governments should also pay attention to the operation of the hospital.
“Such a big hospital cannot be run by the municipality alone and the state and central governments should also cooperate,” he said. A 15-bed building has been constructed at Chandrakot rural municipality-6 at a cost of Rs 136.6 million. In addition to the hospital, a two-storey residential building has also been constructed in Chandrakot.
Rural municipality chair Yubaraj KC said the budget has been approved to open the advertisement of doctors for the operation of the hospital.
