Baglung. Chet Bahadur Thapa of Kathekhola Rural Municipality-7 died in Saudi Arabia in 2072 BS. After his death, the family did not get any compensation and relief for 10 years. But thapa’s family received the relief money after 10 years through the initiative of the Migrant Resource Center.
The center coordinated and found out the problem caused by the Saudi government’s failure to find out the details of the person. The centre has been actively involved in providing necessary assistance for the treatment of the families who have been maimed in foreign employment, retrieving the dead bodies, providing compensation and psychological counseling.
Centre’s information and consultant Ganga Sharma said that out of 128 cases related to foreign employment registered here in a year, 58 have been resolved.
He informed that out of 72 foreign frauds, 22 complaints of fraud have been resolved and Rs 5.515 million has been returned. He said that out of 25 complaints filed without contact, lack of documents and jailed abroad, 13 problems have been resolved.
Similarly, bodies of 10 people who died abroad in a year have been brought and relief money has been paid to the families. Sharma said that out of the 10 death and six maiming complaints, 13 problems have been resolved and the family has received Rs 6.7 million as relief.
Min Upadhyay, chief of The Migrant Resource Centre, Baglung, said the number of cases of fraud, maiming, death and imprisonment has increased due to the increasing number of people going for foreign employment. He said 15 complaints including work, price, company difference and passport confiscation have been registered, out of which 10 complaints have been resolved.
Upadhyay said rs 2,130,254 received from the Department of Consular Services has been provided to the victims related to foreign employment with the facilitation of the District Administration Office.
