Rupandehi. Youths of Tilottama of the district have started producing organic manure. Around 20 youths from here have registered ‘Nepal Bio Compost Pvt Ltd’ and started producing organic fertilizers keeping in mind the human health and soil condition.
The pack of this mall, which has come to the market under the name ‘Jacko’, has been made attractive. According to the youth, a packet of one kilogram has been made and brought to the market for the convenience of everyone. From farmers cultivating hectares and bighas to pot flowers, this fertilizer can be easily obtained and used.
Nepal Bio Compost Company has brought this fertilizer to the market. In recent times, the production of fertilizer has started with the active participation of youth at a time when the increasing use of chemical fertilizers is worsening human health and soil fertility. Rahul Panthi, a member of the company, said that the company has become active in the production with the aim of gradually improving the quality of soil with the use of organic fertilizers. “We have invested Rs 30 million so far for this purpose and are now hopeful of getting returns gradually,” he said.
He said that the emphasis on production has been given to encourage the use of organic fertilizers at a time when the soil condition is deteriorating due to the widespread use of chemical fertilizers. “Many people are deliberately using chemical fertilisers. It is affecting not only the soil, human health, but the entire animal in the environment. As a result, the ecosystem has been affected and all the organisms in the environment are suffering from it,” he said.
Panthi, a member of the company, said that with the production of ‘Jaiko’ organic fertilizer, all animals and soil along with humans are expected to get a new life. He said that it is challenging to increase the use of organic fertilizers in the current situation where the use of chemical fertilizers is increasing day by day and chemical fertilizers give faster and more production.
What is ‘Jacko’ stool?
This fertilizer is a 100 percent organic fertilizer. Surendra Kumar Gautam, treasurer of the company, said that this fertilizer, which is considered very important for the soil, will be made in a natural way. He said that with the use of this fertilizer, the growth of the plant will be developed and the production will also be abundant.
“In this, manure is produced in a natural way by carving cow and buffalo dung, unnecessary weeds of forests (full of medicinal properties), unnecessary weeds of different crops, etc. It contains adequate amounts of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium (NPK) and micronutrients required for plant growth development,” Gautam said.
Lokendra Gharti Magar, soil expert and vice-president of the company, said that the use of organic manure will improve the quality of soil. “It has become odor-free, environment-friendly and pesticide-free. 200 grams per plant is required for flowers, 1 kg per plant for fruits and 200 grams per plant for vegetables. The used packets should be closed and kept away from sunlight and cold,” he said.
Magar said that the food elements present in this fertilizer are soluble in water, so the plant can easily get those elements. He claimed that this fertilizer contains sufficient amount of vitamins, hormones as well as essential nutrients for the soil and plants and micro-organisms that increase biological activity, so it is of better quality than other fertilizers.
“This fertilizer is made from medicinal properties, leaves and waste products, which helps in keeping the environment clean. This increases the immunity of the plant and increases the production. It also improves the soil quality and prevents soil erosion,” magar said.
Shanti Magar, a member of the company, informed that the company is producing about 1.5 tonnes of fertilizer daily. He said that fertilizer could not be delivered to the market as per the demand as it was the initial stage.
Chairman of the company, Yam Bahadur Thapa, said that they could not supply as per the demand due to high consumption during the farming season. According to him, organic manure is consumed in Rupandehi, Palpa, Kapilvastu, Gulmi, Nawalparasi and Syangja.
