Kathmandu. About two million of the 60 people living in The Kathmandu Valley travel by vehicle. About four million people will walk on footpaths.
Footpaths are encroached everywhere in Kathmandu. The footpaths are also unsafe to walk. Even those with vision are afraid to walk on uncomfortable pavements. There are obstacles in walking on the pavement. There is no indication of when accidents will occur due to incomplete construction and potholes.
The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) is currently working on underground electric wires in Kathmandu. The AUTHORITY seems to have occupied the footpath and kept its equipment and construction materials. As a result, it is difficult to walk on the pavement. In some places, footpaths have been demolished to lay stones.
The people of the capital are forced to take a risky journey on the footpath as it takes time to demolish it in a hurry but take time to build it. In some places, pedestrians are finding it difficult to walk even when vehicles are parked on footpaths.
