Syangja. A young man here has cultivated lemon commercially. Rishi Regmi of Chisapani of Waling Municipality-5 in Syangja has started earning a handsome income by cultivating lemon commercially.

He started cultivating lemon in the village during the lockdown caused by the corona epidemic in 2078 BS. He had planted 100 saplings of gold from Syalbas of Galyang Municipality-5.

Regmi, who started working with a plan to cultivate lemons by utilizing his time after not being able to walk outside the house during the Corona period, has now become a fast source of income. “I planted the lemon after seeing the possibility of lemon as an alternative as the cultivable land was becoming barren due to monkey problems,” he said, adding, “I am happy that the dream i saw at that time has come true.” ’

For the first time in the village, he started commercial cultivation as a model today by tearing down the barren land due to lack of farming. Although he does not have the technical knowledge about lemon farming, he said that he is using it by watching it on YouTube.

“Out of 100 plants, 90 have started giving good yield since last year,” he said, adding, “This year the production is even better than last year. Regmi, who cultivates commercial lemons in about five ropanis of land, had sold lemons worth rs 60,000 last year alone.

The lemon produced here is consumed in hotels in the local Waling Market. He has been selling lemon at Rs 200 to Rs 300 per kg. “There is no problem so far that the lemon produced here will not get the market,” he said, adding, “I have got a good market price as the lemon is sold directly to the hotel and not to the traders.” ’

He plans to add new plants to the vacant and barren land. Now the locals are also preparing to pursue lemon farming commercially after he started earning income along with production by cultivating lemon commercially in the village.
