Kathmandu. The country’s political, economic, social, education, health, and other sectors have been affected by the nationwide protests by the Gen-G generation.
The Kathmandu-centric protests that took place two days ago have spread across the country, affecting almost all sectors. Especially on the first day of the demonstration in the New Baneshwor area, the hospitals are in a hurry to treat the injured patients.
The civil hospital at Min Bhawan has closed all services except emergency services for now due to the increasing number of patients. Director of the hospital Dr Mohan Chandra Regmi said it has been difficult to supply essential services including food to the patients.
“There is a problem of resources and manpower management is equally challenging. “Doctors and nurses are working round the clock even though they are in double duty, but OPD and OT services have been closed for now,” he said. Currently, 46 people injured in the protest are undergoing treatment.
The Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) has been giving top priority to those injured in the protest, said hospital director Dr Subash Acharya.
“The treatment of urgent and referred patients has not been stopped. The OPD service is in operation but patients have not been able to reach the hospital. “We are working on double duty. The health workers are working at the hospital as there is no condition to go home”, he said, adding that 53 injured people are being treated at the hospital. ’
According to Director Acharya, the OPD is being operated regularly, there is pressure in emergency service, the main surgery has been closed for the time being and all services will be resumed from tomorrow.
“At present, 40 injured people are undergoing treatment at the National Trauma Centre. Four of them have been kept in the ICU after surgery. Now the situation is fine. But they vandalized an ambulance,” said Dr Badri Rijal, director of the hospital. We have not stopped the treatment service despite the lack of resources. ’
Similarly, Paropakar Maternity and Gynecology Hospital is also providing 24-hour service. Hospital’s director Dr Shree Prasad Adhikari pledged to continue its service at any cost. Paid service has been discontinued. ’
