Chitwan. Tourists have canceled their bookings at hotels in Sauraha, the tourist area of Sauraha. Tourists have also cancelled bookings during the tourist season.

Most of the hotel bookings were cancelled after the Zenji agitation on September 7 and 24 had sent a negative message to the international community. Om Pandey, president of the Regional Hotel Association Sauraha, said that the hotels booked for September have been canceled. According to him, bookings for the coming months are also being canceled.

“During this month, 65 to 70 percent hotel rooms were booked”, he said, adding, “Now tourists are occupying only one or two rooms”. ’

Even when the agitation was going on across the country, there were a good number of tourists in the hotels of Sauraha. But after they left, no more tourists came. Former President of the Regional Hotel Association Sauraha, Deepak Bhattarai, said that they have been sending around a hundred emails and messages daily through travel agencies stating that tourists cannot be safe due to the negative message disseminated in the international community.

According to him, there are not even 5 percent tourists in Sauraha compared to the capacity of the hotel. Tourists flock to Sauraha to visit the Chitwan National Park. This park is famous for jungle safari in the world.
