Birgunj. Petroleum products worth Rs 26.33 billion were imported through Birgunj border point in the first two months of the current fiscal year 2082/83. Imports of petrol, aviation turbine fuel (ATF) and kerosene were imported during the period.
Chief Customs Administrator of Birgunj Customs Office, Bishnu Prasad Gyawali, said that petroleum products worth Rs 1.76 billion were imported through the border point in the first two months of the current fiscal year. With the rise in imports, Rs 1.29 billion more revenue has been collected.
“Import of petroleum products and vehicles is the main source of revenue here,” said Chief Customs Administrator Gyawali. The office had collected Rs 9.89 billion revenue from the import of petroleum products in the first two months of the last fiscal year. Likewise, Nepal collected Rs 11.18 billion from petroleum products in the first two months of the current fiscal year.
In the first two months of the current fiscal year, revenue of Rs 5.28 billion has been collected from the import of 132,824 kilolitres of diesel worth Rs 11.91 billion. Chief Customs Administrator Gyawali said that revenue was collected from the import of diesel worth Rs 10.45 billion in the same period of the last fiscal year.
In the first two months of the current fiscal year, the office imported 80,560 kilolitres petrol worth Rs 6.82 billion and collected Rs 4.54 billion. In the same period last year, revenue of Rs 3.99 billion was collected from the import of 69,647 kilolitres of petrol amounting to Rs 6.40 billion.
Likewise, revenue of Rs 960 million was collected in the first two months of the current fiscal year after importing 49.566 million kilogrammes of LP gas worth Rs 5.12 billion. In the same period of the last fiscal year, revenue of Rs 1 billion was collected after importing 49.755 thousand 194 kilogrammes of LPG, which amounted to Rs 5.36 billion.
