Birgunj. In the first two months of the current fiscal year, goods worth Rs 17.03 billion have been exported to foreign countries through Birgunj border point.
Nepal exported goods worth Rs 10.98 billion in the first two months of the current fiscal year as compared to the corresponding period of the last fiscal year. In the first two months of the last fiscal year, goods worth Rs 6.05 billion were exported.
Bishnu Prasad Gyawali, chief customs administrator at the Birgunj Customs Office, said exports through Birgunj customs point in the first two months of the current fiscal year were encouraging. “The export of Nepal has increased by 181 per cent in the first two months of the last fiscal year,” he said, adding, “The ratio of foreign trade from Nepal in the first two months of the last fiscal year was 1:20 which has now improved to 1.60 per cent.” ’
A total of 42.8 million litres of soybean oil worth Rs 8.84 billion has been exported through Birgunj border point in the first two months of the current fiscal year. In the same period last year, 480 liters of soybean oil worth Rs 300,000 was exported.
Likewise, 12.6 million litres of fruit juice worth Rs 1.24 billion was exported to foreign countries in the first two months of the current fiscal year. Whereas in the same period last year, 48,155 liters of juice worth Rs 1.36 billion worth Rs 1.29 billion was exported.
A total of 34.11 million litres of sunflower oil worth Rs 1.17 billion was exported in the first two months of the current fiscal year. Whereas in the same period of the last fiscal year, only negligible quantity was exported.
