Kathmandu. The then secretary of the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, who was involved in the Lichibari land scam in Pokhara, has been found to have taken Glenfiddich liquor and 2 wild chickens along with cash as bribe.
The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) had filed a corruption case at the Special Court against seven persons, including former Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration Raj Kumar Gupta and former Minister for Land Reforms Ranjita Shrestha.
The then secretary of the ministry, Arjun Prasad Pokharel (now retired), has been accused of taking bribe worth Rs 500,000 and Rs 10,000. Not only that, he also bribed Glenfiddich liquor and 2 wild chickens, the commission said. According to the lawsuit, the commission has prepared a separate file and appointed an investigating officer to investigate the matter further.
