Up to 80 per cent discount on air tickets for senior citizens

Kathmandu. The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has announced a discount of up to 80 per cent for senior citizens. A meeting of the CAAN today decided to provide 50 to 80 percent discount on air tickets to citizens above 70 years of age and above.

A meeting presided over by Engineer Pradeep Adhikari, Director General of Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), and representatives of Airlines Operators Association of Nepal (AOAN) and representatives of domestic airlines companies took the decision to this effect.TAG_OPEN_div_22

The meeting also decided to provide 50 per cent discount to senior citizens above 70 years of age in all domestic air routes in the maximum air fare fixed by the federal government, said Director General Adhikari.TAG_OPEN_div_20

According to him, 70 percent discount will be given to people above 75 years and 80 percent to people above 80 years.TAG_OPEN_div_18 He said that it has been decided to ensure at least 50 percent discount for passengers of different capacity of any age group.

“The decision made today will ensure inclusiveness and access to air travel,” Adhikari said.TAG_OPEN_div_16 According to him, the airlines participating in the meeting have been instructed to implement the decisions from today itself. Accordingly, all the concerned domestic airlines companies should immediately implement the decision, CAAN said.
