Kathmandu. Bagmati Province has collected 11.34 per cent of the annual target or Rs 7.64 billion revenue in the first three months of the current fiscal year 2082/83.
Land registration (land revenue) and vehicle tax are the main sources of revenue collection by the provincial government. Information Officer at the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Planning Development, Suraj Poudel, said that revenue was collected only 4.38 billion or 14.21 per cent of the target in the fiscal year 2082/83.
According to him, in the current fiscal year 2082/83, the target of collecting Rs 7.70 billion revenue from the head of real estate registration has been collected in the first three months of the current fiscal year.
Likewise, the provincial government has collected Rs 1.74 billion or Rs 1.74 billion in revenue till mid-October from the estimated Rs 8.25 billion in the fiscal year 2082/83 under the title of vehicle tax under vehicle test pass, route permit, distribution and renewal of driving license.
According to the Ministry, the provincial government has collected Rs 1.15 billion as VAT against the estimated receipt of Rs 8.79 billion as VAT while Rs 4.03 billion has been collected as excise duty.
Similarly, the government was supposed to receive Rs 14.81 billion under the equalization grant from the federal government, but only Rs 2.33 billion has been received in the last three months, said Information Officer Poudel.
Likewise, the provincial government was expected to receive Rs 4.77 billion from internal sources in the current fiscal year 2082/83 BS but only Rs 870.82 million has been collected in the first three months, according to the Ministry.
Information Officer Poudel said that due to lack of financial liquidity, decrease in the sale and purchase of real estate and new vehicles, and the damage caused to various revenue collection bodies of the state government during the Genji agitation on September 7 and 24, the revenue collection has not been possible.
