Myagdi. A group of Gurja mothers of Dhawalagiri Rural Municipality-1 in Myagdi district has donated the money collected by playing Deusi Bhailo for the construction of the road. On the occasion of Tihar, the local Himalayan Mothers’ Group has donated Rs 2 lakh from the money collected by playing Deusi Bhailo to help in the project of road construction in the village.
Gurja is the only ward in Myagdi that does not have access to road network. Chairperson of Mothers’ Group, Gyan Kumari Chhantyal, said that out of the total amount not collected in Deusi Bhailo, Rs two lakh has been provided to the project of providing access to road network in Gurja village which is known as a remote and remote settlement. He said that the support was made by taking a decision from a meeting of the mothers’ group with the objective of connecting the village with a motorable road soon.
The amount was handed over to ward members Gunram Chhantyal and KI Singh Chhantyal amidst a programme organized on Sunday. Ward member Gunram Chhantyal said that the donation collected from the original Deusi Bhailo was used by the mothers’ group for the preservation of original art and culture.
According to him, the amount will be provided to the Gurja Development Forum, Pokhara, which is leading the road construction project through the ward office. Construction of a five-kilometer track from Lulang of Dhawalagiri rural municipality-2 to Bhaisimane rivulet of Gurja via Deurali is yet to be constructed.
In addition to the government budget, the Gurja locals living in the country and abroad have been working to expand the road track by mobilizing internal resources for the project of road connectivity in the village.
Jhak Bahadur Chhantyal, ward chairman of Gurja Municipality, said that preparations are being made to mobilize the budget allocated by the rural municipality, state and federal government with the objective of ensuring road access to Gurja village within the current fiscal year. According to him, the federal government has allocated Rs 14 million, the rural municipality Rs 3.5 million, the Ministry of Urban Development Rs 30 million and the Gandaki province government Rs 5 million for the construction of Lulang-Gurja road this year.
