Manang. The District Administration Office has banned trekking along the Annapurna trekking route to Manang for a week.
The administration has appealed to the trekkers not to go on trekking for a week as there is a risk of avalanche even if the snowfall has stopped. Chief District Officer (CDO) Nawaraj Poudyal said the opening of the road filled with snow has made it easier for tourists to return from the Annapurna Conservation Area.
“The road, which was blocked by snowfall since Monday night, has been opened after dozers were used to clear the snow. The road up to Khangsar has been opened. However, the trekking has not yet resumed”, he said, adding that although the rain and snow have stopped, trekking is not possible right now. ”
Around 1,500 domestic and foreign tourists were rescued on Tuesday. Among them, around 200 were foreign tourists. Some 400 tourists, who were stranded at the Tilicho base camp due to snowfall, returned home after they could not reach Tilicho.
