Gorkha. GORKHA: One out of three Italians trapped in the Pangbari mountain in Gorkha district for the past five days has been rescued and search is on for the other two, police said.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Raj Kumar Shrestha informed that the 65-year-old Velter Perlino was rescued from the base camp at an altitude of 5,000 meters this morning and brought to Chumnubri-1, Samdo.
Pemba Renji Sherpa, Dawa Chhiri Sherpa and Pasang Tamang, who were accompanying him, were also rescued by helicopter. Police said they were searching for 67-year-old Stefano Farinato and 37-year-old Alessandro Gaputo at Camp 1 at an altitude of 5,500 metres.
Three Italian climbers and three Nepali helpers had been trapped at the base camp of Mt Pangbari since last Wednesday.
