Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sushila Karki has directed the government to immediately sack contractual employees recruited on the basis of access to the Nepal Airlines Corporation. Prime Minister Karki, in the capacity of Tourism Minister, summoned the NAC’s Board of Directors and management officials to Singha Durbar today and gave this directive.
She said, “What is the reason why Genji has shed so much blood? Isn’t it for the end of nepotism, favoritism and discrimination? There is so much agitation going on here, on the other hand, it has recruited its own people. Even when I am about to retire and go home, I have not stopped doing it. How much irregularity is this?” she said, adding that the organization which was once proud has now reached a painful state.
He also directed that the corporation should move ahead with a plan to implement the reports and suggestions made so far for the reform of the corporation. On the occasion, acting general manager of NOC, Janak Raj Kalakheti, presented the details of accumulated loss of over Rs 17 billion. Comparing the current situation of the corporation to the dilapidated house of the rich, Prime Minister Karki said, “Everything is there in sight but the situation inside is painful. It was convincing that employment was being provided even if there was no profit or loss. That’s not the case. ’
Prime Minister Karki also advised the people not to listen to undue and illegal pressure coming from anywhere. “Political people put pressure. Why do you feel such pressure? You are the ones who will face action tomorrow,” he said, adding, “No one will take action if you act in a lawful manner.” You don’t have to be afraid of authority while doing good work. Don’t use authority as an excuse to tie your hands. ’
He also questioned the corporation’s tendency of not sending the engine of its aircraft for repair, and writing huge expenses by running a rented engine. This loss is the loss suffered by the people,” she said, adding, “Now we have to take stern steps to reform this institution.” You should also be prepared to make unpleasant decisions. ’
She also questioned the reason for the corporation making losses when the private sector service providers are making huge profits. “The government has provided such a huge resource. The government is cooperating. But what is the reason why this institution is making losses?” he asked, “Would you have built a university, school or hospital with this money?”
Acting Chairman of the Board of Directors of the NAC, Bikram Rai, has pledged to bring reforms within a few days. He said, “There is a need to take a bold decision in the corporation. I’m ready to make a very unpleasant decision. I expect the government’s support for this. ’
