Colours fly away in the courtyard of the Rani Mahal

Kathmandu. PALPA: The walls of the Rani Mahal, the main tourist attraction in Palpa, have started getting dirty due to the fading of the paint. Due to the negligence of Tansen Municipality in the management of Rani Mahal, the area has not been cleaned and the painting of the building has been blown away.

Tansen Municipality collects the entry fee while Bagnaskali Rural Municipality collects the parking fee. Tansen Municipality has collected Rs 1,370,300 revenue from July to November 26.

Locals have complained that tourists visiting Rani Mahal have been staying inside the palace, the police have done indecent work by drying their clothes and not cleaning the garbage. In 2018, the Department of Archaeology handed over the Rani Mahal to Tansen Municipality for 10 years. According to Tansen Municipality, around 300 tourists visit the Rani Mahal every day.

Mayor Santosh Lal Shrestha said that black spots have been seen at the palace following monsoon but it was delayed due to the need to fulfill several process.

The Rani Mahal, which started in 1950 BS and was completed in 1954 BS, is known as a symbol of love.

The then General Khadga Shumsher built the Rani Mahal Dalbar in the Greek style on the banks of the Kaligandaki river in memory of his queen Tej Kumari ।
