Kathmandu. Goods worth Rs 7.36 billion were imported from China through the Mustang Customs Office in the last two months. The Rasuwagadhi border point and Tatopani border point were closed due to floods and landslides in June and August last year as the Mustang Customs Office at Lomanthang-2, Nhechung was brought into use as an alternative to the customs office.
The Customs Office has been fully operationalized immediately after the Department of Customs used the Korala-based Mustang Customs Point as an alternative transit point. Goods worth Rs 7.36 billion were imported from Nepal-China Korala border point in the first six months of December while hundreds of electronic vehicles, electronic goods, garments and electronic gadgets entered through the Korala checkpoint.
Similarly, handicraft goods worth Rs 838 lakh 63 thousand were exported to China from Korala border point after clearing customs clearance, Khadka said. Khadka said that the Mustang Customs Office collected more revenue of Rs 3.62 billion in the two months of the current fiscal year from import of goods worth Rs 7.36 billion and goods worth Rs 83.8 million.
A total of 1,726 electric vehicles have been sent from the Customs Office here from September 13 to December 30 after passing the customs clearance from China. Similarly, 897 goods imported from the Chinese customs at North Korala checkpoint have passed the customs clearance and are heading towards their destinations, Khadka said. According to the Nepal Customs Office, 54 goods were exported from Nepal after passing the inspection at the Mustang Customs Office.
