. KATHMANDU: The government has issued a 12-point directive to bring casinos under the legal ambit of commercial entertainment sector.
The Department of Tourism under the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation has urged all the casinos currently operating to fully comply with the Anti-Money Laundering Act and all its provisions.TAG_OPEN_div_30
The department has stressed on full compliance with the directive issued to casinos and the directive on the prevention of money laundering and terrorist financing.
The Department has reminded that foreign currency transactions should not be carried out without obtaining permission from Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB).TAG_OPEN_div_26 The details of the Casino Regulations, 2082 and the directive issued by the Department of Tourism to the casino entrepreneurs regarding the prevention of money laundering and financing of terrorist activities should be submitted to the Department regularly.
{{TAG_OPEN_div_24} The customer identification system and biometric details of the casino players should be updated as specified and made available as requested by the department, and the CCTV camera record should be preserved for at least six months.
Casinos are prohibited from operating by agreement with third parties or by any other means, and it is completely prohibited to operate in any place other than where it is licensed.
} Before the player pays the money he has won from the casino, the amount won by such player must be immediately deducted in advance in accordance with the prevailing law.
After the deduction of the Accidental Gains Tax, the licensed company shall obtain the certificate of deduction of the Accidental Gains Tax and send the details of the same to the concerned Inland Revenue Office and the information of the same shall also be given to the Department.
Similarly, playing any game based on the Internet or online will be banned. Adequate security should be ensured inside and outside the casino and hotel premises. Similarly, action will be taken immediately as per the law if the casino monitoring is not found to be correct while monitoring the casino on the basis of risk as per the Detail of Immediate Corrective Activities to be removed from the Nepal Grey List, 2082.
