The office collected Rs 1.15 billion more revenue than the target in the period from mid-July to mid-October.
According to Prem Raj Pokhrel, chief tax officer at the Inland Revenue Office, the revenue target has been achieved every month from mid-July to mid-October. In four months, we have been able to collect more than the target set by the Inland Revenue Department.
Against the target of collecting Rs 4.23 billion in the first four months, the office has been able to collect Rs 5.39 billion. This is 27.3 per cent more than the target and 127.3 per cent of the target, said Chief Tax Officer Pokharel.
“The revenue collection has increased by 51.5 per cent compared to the last fiscal year. We have achieved the target in all four months,” he said. He said that excise duty accounted for 82.6 per cent of the total revenue collection target. “Value Added Tax (VAT) and income tax have also been collected well. But a big chunk of excise duty is visible,” said Pokharel.
In the fiscal year 2081÷82, the office had collected Rs 3.56 billion from mid-July to mid-October. It has been able to perform very well and excellently in revenue collection.
This has been possible due to the joint teamwork of the office’s industrialists and tax administration, said Chief Tax Officer Pokharel. There are more than 64,000 taxpayers under the Inland Revenue Office, Bhairahawa.
