Persa. Goods worth Rs 284.89 billion were imported through Birgunj border point in the first four months of the current fiscal year.
Compared to the first four months of the last fiscal year, imports increased by Rs 43.86 billion. Nepal had imported goods worth Rs 241.03 billion in the first four months of the last fiscal year.
Chief Customs Administrator of Birgunj Customs Office, Bishnu Prasad Gyawali, said that the border point has increased by 18 percent in the first four months of the current fiscal year compared to the corresponding period of the last fiscal year. “Compared to the four months of the last fiscal year, not only import but also revenue collection has increased,” he said.
The office had collected Rs 66.73 billion revenue in the first four months of the last fiscal year. However, the government collected Rs 75.59 billion in revenue in the first four months of the current fiscal year.
Five types of petroleum products worth Rs 54.12 billion were imported through Birgunj border point in the first four months of the current fiscal year. Likewise, imports of iron and iron goods worth Rs 25.52 billion were recorded in the same period. Machinery and spare parts worth Rs 19.54 billion have been imported.
Crude oil worth Rs 18.31 billion, electric machinery, equipment and their spare parts worth Rs 16.04 billion and fertiliser worth Rs 15.43 billion were imported through Birgunj checkpoint in the first four months of the current fiscal year.
