Genji Movement: Rs 1.58 billion paid against claims of Rs 23.22 billion

. The total insurance claim amount for physical and other damages caused during the recent agitation in the country has reached around Rs 23.22 billion.

A total of 3,099 claims received from 14 non-life insurance companies and 4 micro non-life insurance companies have a claim amount of Rs 23.22 billion, according to the data received from the non-life insurance companies.TAG_OPEN_div_54

The non-life insurance companies have so far paid out of the total claim amount to about 1.58 billion insured persons including advance payment.TAG_OPEN_div_52 The non-life insurers said that 2,710 claims have been deputed for evaluation and monitoring of insurance claims for physical and other damages sustained during the agitation and surveyors have submitted 374 survey reports so far.

} Out of the total insurance claims, 653 claims were made towards property insurance and the claim amount was about Rs 19.06 billion. So far, the insurers have paid about Rs 1.32 billion in property insurance including advance payment.

Insurance surveyors have been deployed for 598 claims for evaluation and monitoring of property insurance claims and 52 survey reports have been received from the surveyors so far.

Similarly, there were 2,206 claims in motor insurance and the claim amount was around Rs 3.4 TAG_OPEN_div_46 1 billion. So far, insurance companies have paid Rs 24.91 crore in insurance premiums.

Similarly, 190 claims have been made under engineering and contract risk insurance and the claim amount is about Rs.TAG_OPEN_div_42 38.03 crores. So far, the insurers have paid about Rs. 87 lakhs in advance in engineering and contract risk insurance.

Insurance surveyors have been deputed for 126 claims for evaluation and monitoring of engineering and contract damages during the agitation and five survey reports have been received from the surveyors so far, the insurers said.TAG_OPEN_div_40

Similarly, in the transport insurance category, there are 12 claims and the claim amount is about Rs 16.3 million.TAG_OPEN_div_38 The insurers have deployed insurance surveyors for 11 claims to assess and monitor the damage caused by the transport.

In other insurance, there are 38 insurance claims and the claim amount is about Rs 353.7 million, but so far about Rs 5,50,000 has been paid.

The non-life insurance companies have informed that insurance surveyors have been deputed for 36 claims for evaluation and monitoring of damages towards other insurance and 3 survey reports have been received from the surveyors.TAG_OPEN_div_35

The Nepal TAG_OPEN_div_33 Insurance Authority (NEA) has been directing the insurance companies to make the insurance claim process efficient, transparent and effective, giving top priority to the protection of the interest of the insured.

In order to facilitate the insurance claim payment process and complete it on time, the deadline for submission of survey report, transparency of claim investigation and easy access to the insured have been given special priority.TAG_OPEN_div_31
