Kathmandu. Nepal has made gradual improvement in the field of financial transparency. Nepal has secured 52 points in the Open Budget Survey 2025 published by the International Budget Partnership (IBP) today. According to IBP, Nepal has improved compared to 2023.

The survey concludes that consultation and citizen suggestions should be effectively addressed to improve public participation. According to the report, parliamentary accountability and representation of marginalized communities will be ensured in the successful implementation of the Third Public Financial Management Reform Strategy, in line with the spirit of the National Strategy on Citizen Engagement in Inclusiveness and Public Finance Management. In addition, it has been suggested to start the practice of citizen participation in the parliamentary hearings on budget and audit files.
