Oil Aviv. Israel’s Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana has formally invited US President Donald Trump to address the Knesset, calling him “the greatest friend and ally of the Jewish people in modern history”.

In a letter shared on Thursday, Ohana praised Trump’s leadership and vision, saying Trump’s role marked a turning point not only in the agreement securing the release of all Israeli hostages abducted by Hamas on October 7, but also in the unprecedented regional agreement accepted by most countries in the Middle East.

“The people of Israel view President Trump as one of the greatest friends and allies of the Jewish state in modern history. Therefore, it is my deep honor and privilege to invite him to address the nation before the Knesset. ’

“If Trump accepts the invitation, his speech would be the first Knesset speech since President George W. Bush visited in 2008,” the letter said. This occasion will be a deep symbol of the unbreakable friendship and shared values between the State of Israel and the United States. Israel is waiting for a “president of peace”. ’

Ohana also praised Trump’s “historic moves” in support of Israel. “Recognizing Jerusalem as our eternal capital and moving the U.S. Embassy there, recognizing our sovereignty over the Golan Heights, building the historic Abraham Accords, and blocking Iran’s nuclear facilities — all of these steps prove that under Trump’s leadership, America is not only a military leader, but also a moral leader,” he wrote. He has shown the truth that peace always comes from force. ’

“This victory would not have been possible without the sacrifices of our brave Israeli soldiers, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s stance, and the close partnership that President Trump has forged throughout his life,” Ohana wrote in the letter. ’

Meanwhile, the terms of the first phase of the US-brokered Gaza ceasefire agreement have come into effect, according to Israeli government officials. Trump’s special Middle East envoy Steve Wittoff and his son-in-law Jared Kushner were also present at the meeting. In the meeting, the government had voted on the ceasefire agreement and approved it.

Israel has described Trump’s active mediation and role in the peace process as “historic” and hoped his visit will further strengthen the strategic relationship between the two countries.
