Gorkha. GORKHA: Vehicular movement has been halted from today for upgrading the Barpak-Laprak road section in Gorkha district. The road linking Barpak of Sulikot rural municipality-1 and Laprak of Dharche rural municipality-4 has been halted for traffic on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Ward Chairman of Dharche rural municipality-4, Kisan Gurung, said that the road is to be constructed by closing the vehicular movement along the under-construction road. He said, “The construction company is going to construct backcutting and other structures by completely stopping the vehicular movement for two days.” ’
The road construction is being carried out through Sharma÷Bikki JV Construction Company. Chairman Gurung said that the government has urged the vehicles operating via Barpak-Laprak road to use alternative routes within the stipulated period.
The construction of Barpak and Laprak road sections, which are tourist destinations of Gorkha, has not been completed on time. The road section remains obstructed for months every year during the rainy season due to delay in the upgrading of the road.
Although the contract was signed in May, 2077 BS, the construction should have been completed by June, 2079 BS.
