Kathmandu. All the ministries and subordinate bodies of the government have prepared action plans of 10 major reforms within seven days and submitted them to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.
Various ministries and its subordinate bodies have submitted action plans of more than 300 activities of 10 major reforms under point number 2 of the 100 agendas related to governance reforms approved by the meeting of the Council of Ministers on March 27.
According to Prime Minister Balendra Shah’s press expert Deepa Dahal, the Prime Minister Delivery Unit under the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers will track the performance of these action plans. The unit will maintain key performance indicators, performance tracking and central dashboard of Problem and Bottleneck Resolution Mechanism for national prioritized projects.
Various ministries and agencies have prepared action plans with a deadline of 15 days to one year. A monthly progress report of the action plan should be submitted to the Prime Minister’s Office within 7 pm of every month. The Prime Minister’s Office has stated that regular monitoring, evaluation and public reporting will be carried out. All the ministries, including the National Planning Commission, Investment Board and the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers have already submitted their action plans.
What is this action plan?
As per the government’s goal of implementing results-based governance reform arrangements, each ministry should prepare its 10 major action plans, deadlines, responsible officers and key performance indicators.
The Prime Minister’s press expert said the government’s main objective was to make the performance result-oriented, measurable and accountable and bring direct improvement in the lives of the citizens. Among the nearly three hundred major works under the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, system upgradation, internal control, anti-corruption strategy, ethics policy, grievance redressal, money laundering tracking, amendment of Public Procurement Act, expansion of taxpayer services, availability of national statistics online and amendment of passport act, among others. The Prime Minister’s Office has said that officials who fail to meet the target within the stipulated time will be held accountable. (
