Kavrepalanchok. The road section from Katunje of Kavre to Mangaltar of Roshi along the BP Highway has been obstructed since this morning due to incessant rain.
The Katunje-Mangaltar road section has been obstructed after diversions have been swept away at different places, according to the District Police Office. Information Officer of the office, Deputy Superintendent of Police Rabin Bista said although the diversion has been repaired, it will take some more days to resume the traffic. According to him, the temporary diversion constructed earlier along the highway was washed away after the water level in the Roshi River rose following rainfall.
Last year, the floods and landslides swept away 18-km road at Roshi of Ragmarg and Nepalthok area of Sindhuli. Likewise, in the third week of March, a temporary diversion was constructed after four kilometres of the river was washed away at different places of the same area.
Meanwhile, the vehicles have been put on hold at Kavrebhanjyang of Dhulikhel and Nepalthok of Sindhuli due to the obstruction of the highway. Police have urged the general public to travel only after knowing the condition of the highway and have appealed not to travel on the highway until further notice.
After the floods and landslides in September last year completely damaged the Chaukidanda-Nepalthok road section, temporary roads and diversions were constructed from the rivulet itself. According to the Division Road Office, Bhaktapur, permanent road is currently being constructed in the area.
