Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP)-led government has decided to scrap more than a thousand political appointments.

The government is going to bring an ordinance to abolish the post of political appointees in one go.

In the meeting of the House of Representatives, Rastriya Samajwadi Party President Rabi Lamichhane had announced to support the political appointees by resigning. The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), which came with a two-thirds majority after the election in the Jenji movement, has asked him to resign after understanding the essence of the political change.

So far, except for a few posts, others have not resigned.

The governor of Nepal Rastra Bank was appointed by the NC-UML government last year. It has been a year since he was appointed.

The NRB Act has given autonomy to the NRB and the Governor. Although there was a provision to suspend the governor, the government had not been able to remove him before. The court had lifted the suspension sought to remove Maha Prasad Adhikari.

Santosh Narayan Shrestha from the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON), Hemanta Basyal from the post of chairman of NEPSE and Dharmendra Jha from the Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) have resigned from their posts after the government requested for help.

However, the relationship between Dr. Swarnim Wagle and Governor Poudel is not good.

KATHMANDU: The government has recommended the ordinance designed to make special provision regarding the removal of public officials and the ordinance to amend the University and Health Science Academy Act to the President.

A special ordinance is being brought with the objective of relieving the officials of public bodies through political appointments. Similarly, the Ordinance to amend the Universities and Health Sciences Act has been prepared with the objective of making the appointments and nominations made politically in line with the Special Ordinance.

The government on Wednesday also recommended 20 acts to amend 20 Acts for reforms in land, land revenue, survey, education, forest, health, civil service and insurance. The ordinance is said to remove legal obstacles in service delivery and make the system more efficient.

Along with this, the Public Procurement Act Amendment Ordinance has also been recommended, which aims to make the tendering process simple, transparent and timely.

The Council of Ministers on April 28 had decided to recommend six ordinances to the President.

Among them, two ordinances designed to amend the Constitutional Council (Functions, Duties, Rights and Procedure) Act-2066 and the Cooperative Act-2074 were recommended on Tuesday. The amendment ordinance on the Constitutional Council aims to make the recommendation process for appointment of office-bearers of the constitutional bodies systematic and transparent.
