Construction of 132 KV Myagdi Corridor Power Transmission Line Project begins at a cost of Rs 426.2 million

Myagdi. Construction of 132 KV Myagdi Corridor Electricity Transmission Line Project has started. The construction of double and multi-circuit transmission lines has been started to connect the electricity generated from three under-construction hydropower projects in Myagdi River that flows through Dhawalagiri and Malika rural municipalities to the national grid.

The 16.TAG_OPEN_div_30 48-kilometer-long transmission line will connect Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA)’s Dandakhet Substation at Malika Rural Municipality-7 from Jeltung of Dhawalagiri Rural Municipality-4 to wards 3 and 7.

A total of 164.75 MW of electricity generated from three hydropower projects will be connected to the national grid, said Purna Bahadur Pun, promoter of Upper Myagdi Hydropower Project, Purna Bahadur Pun.TAG_OPEN_div_28

A total of 5 TAG_OPEN_div_26 7 towers will be constructed by the 65 MW Myagdi Khola, 46.25 MW Upper Myagdi and 53.5 MW Upper Myagdi Hydropower Project.

The project is estimated to cost Rs 426.2 million and will use 8.40 hectares of private land and 21.99 hectares of national forest land.TAG_OPEN_div_24

According to the project, the government will be compensated for the use of public forest, private land will be purchased for the construction of towers and compensation will be provided to the owners of the land that falls under the jurisdiction of the transmission line.TAG_OPEN_div_22

A sum of Rs TAG_OPEN_div_20 4.175 lakh has been proposed for environmental impact reduction and Rs 2.1 lakh 31,000 for social support program.

Uttam Poudel, chief of Myagdi Khola Hydropower Project, said that the construction of the transmission line will be completed in eight months after the environmental assessment report is approved by incorporating the suggestions of the locals of the affected areas.TAG_OPEN_div_18

The Ministry TAG_OPEN_div_16 of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation had approved the schedule for preliminary environmental assessment of the Myagdi Corridor Transmission Line Project on Chaitra 22, 2081 BS.
