Kathmandu. Bhojpur, Sept 12: The lifestyle of the locals has started to change after the expansion of central electricity at Khairang area of Hatuwagadhi rural municipality-4 in Bhojpur district. The residents of the district who have long depended on alternative energy have access to electricity service.

Ward chair Chandra Bahadur Bista said most of the households have been connected to the central transmission line with the expansion of power lines in the settlements at the initiative of the local levels and coordination of the concerned bodies. According to him, the ward has been successful in providing electricity service to all settlements of the ward after a lot of efforts. “We have been successful in expanding central electricity in all the wards”, he said, adding, “With the expansion of electricity service, it has become easier in the villages”. ’

Dirgas Singh Karki, a local, said that the compulsion to depend on alternative means like lamps, lamps and solar tools has now become easier. He said that with the availability of electricity service, household chores and children’s teaching and choreography have become easier. “Earlier, we had to live in darkness but now it has become much easier with the light,” he said.

The use of information and communication technology has increased along with the expansion of electricity access. According to Karki, the ease of access to services like television, mobile charging and internet has brought qualitative improvement in the living standard of the citizens.

Similarly, the electricity service has also had a positive impact on the operation of small and cottage industries. Tanka Bahadur Darji, a local, said that there is possibility of creating employment opportunities at the local level after the operation of the grinding mill, sewing, furniture and other enterprises.

Access to electricity has eased even in basic sectors such as health and education, he said. The expansion of electricity has made it easier to operate the necessary equipment in the health institutions and has laid the foundation for the implementation of technology-friendly teaching system in the schools. Locals said that improvement in the living standard of the people of Khairang area along with the expansion of the central electricity has given a new impetus to the rural development.
