Road upgraded in Chhiswang after 15 years of road opening

Myagdi. MYAGDI: A road has been upgraded at Mangala rural municipality-5, Chhiswang in Myagdi district after 15 years of its opening.

The Babiyachaur-Darbang section of the Beni-Darbang road linking Mangala, Malika and Dhawalagiri rural municipalities with the district headquarters Beni has been upgraded to Chhiswang section of Pok-Seraphant-Pipalbot-Chhiswang-Khopti-Chhyarchhyare-Darbang.TAG_OPEN_div_26

The Acharya-Padmadeep JV has completed the project ahead of the target for the construction of the project which the federal government has allocated a budget of Rs 30 million in the current fiscal year.TAG_OPEN_div_24

Mahendra Acharya, a representative of the construction company, said that the road upgradation project that started in January last year was completed three months before the deadline.TAG_OPEN_div_22 The contract was signed for Rs 205,55,000. The 500-kilometer road from Khahare to Okhola via Chhiswang has been graveled by making it nine meters wide.

Durga Bahadur Khatri, a local of Chhiswang, said that the road was opened in 2067 BS and the road was upgraded and the movement has become easier.TAG_OPEN_div_20 Since the opening of the road, only one-way traffic has been plying on the three-four-meter wide road with the help of minor maintenance. Locals have voluntarily helped to widen the road by allowing structures to be constructed on the land.

This road will benefit the locals of ward no 5 of Mangala and ward no 1 and 2 of Malika and can be used as an alternative as the Beni-Darbang road section has been obstructed due to landslides at Babiyachaur-Darwang section.TAG_OPEN_div_18

In the last two fiscal years, Mangala Rural Municipality has been upgraded to Serafant area, the Gandaki State government has upgraded Pipalbot area and the federal government has upgraded it to Hilwang-Khaharekhola area.TAG_OPEN_div_16 This road has been given importance and priority as it is an alternative to the road of strategic importance of the district.

Kishor Malla, a resident of Chhiswang, said that regular vehicular movement can be operated throughout the year if motorable bridges are constructed over Hilwang, Okhola and Armankhola.TAG_OPEN_div_14 The federal government has constructed a culvert at Khahare rivulet before this.
