Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Two new members have been appointed to the board of directors of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA). Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Biraj Bhakta Shrestha on Wednesday appointed them to the post for the next four years.
Among the newly appointed members, Anshu Kiran Shahi, a resident of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-15, representing the private sector has been included in the board of directors. Likewise, Krishna Basel of Nargajun Municipality-5 has been appointed on behalf of consumers. This is probably the first time that the Dalit community representing consumers has participated in the board of directors of NEA.
The board of directors of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has appointed Dirgha Yu Kumar Shrestha, Acting Managing Director of NEA. The 1030th meeting of the Board of Directors of the NEA held under the chairmanship of Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Biraj Bhakta Shrestha on Wednesday took the decision to this effect.
Kumar Shrestha has been active in technical and managerial responsibility of NEA since the last 29 years. He joined the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) in 2054 BS as a seventh-level officer.
A resident of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-12, Shrestha holds Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and Master’s Degree in Information and Communication Engineering. NEA has given the responsibility of acting executive director to Shrestha with the expectation of giving continuity to the management of energy sector, expansion of transmission system and improvement of electricity service.
Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Biraj Bhakta Shrestha administered the oath of office and secrecy to the newly appointed Board of Directors and Acting Executive Director on Wednesday.
