Kathmandu. The Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation has initiated the process for the appointment of vacant posts at the Electricity Regulatory Commission through open competition.

Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Biraj Bhakta Shrestha has formed a three-member recommendation committee to pick office-bearers for the commission.

The other members of the committee are Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Energy Sagar Raj Gautam and Energy Expert Satish Narayan Joshi.

The committee is preparing to call for applications for the post of four members including the chairman of the Electricity Regulatory Commission through open competition. For this, a public notice will be issued with a deadline of 15 days.

Earlier, the Commission was left without leadership after its chairperson and four members were automatically relieved of their posts as per the ‘Special Provision Ordinance 2083 BS’ issued by the government.

As per the Electricity Regulatory Commission Act, the committee has to evaluate the applications received and recommend the names of suitable candidates to the Ministry within 21 days of the expiry of the last date for submission of application.
