Kathmandu.  Independent Power Producers’ Association of Nepal (IPPAN) President Ganesh Karki has warned Deputy General Secretary Prakash Dulal not to make misleading and baseless publicity about the organization’s statute and activities.

Issuing a press release on Monday, Karki termed Dulal’s public statement that the IPPAN statute has disappeared and that the general assembly was being organized against the statute is imaginary, misleading and hurting the reputation of the organization.TAG_OPEN_div_22

IPPAN, which currently has more than 70 TAG_OPEN_div_20 0 member companies, is holding its 24th annual general meeting and eighth convention on June 12. The 21st annual general meeting held on June 16, 2080 had formed a five-member statute amendment and rewriting committee under the convenorship of Bhanubhakta Pokharel. The committee had submitted its report on June 12, 2082 with a proposal to transform the organization into the federation.

{{TAG_OPEN_div_18} The 23rd Annual General Meeting held on July 14, 2082 had discussed the report and authorized the Chairman to implement it. The 200th working committee meeting held on April 18 decided to hold the 24th annual general meeting and the eighth convention as per the existing IPPAN statute-2078 after the necessary process for the transformation of the federation could not be completed, said Karki.

Similarly, the 203rd Executive Committee meeting held on June 9 has decided to take the proposal of statute amendment to the general assembly.TAG_OPEN_div_16 The proposal includes ending the practice of automatically appointing senior vice-president as chairperson, allowing eligible working committee members to file candidacy for the post of president and open competition for all other posts.

The statement stated that the report of the Statute Amendment and Rewriting Committee and the suggestions received from various stakeholders are safe in the IPPAN Secretariat and the claim that the statute has been lost is completely false.

The IPPAN has made it clear that the upcoming general meeting and convention is being held legally as per the decision of the working committee and the prevailing statute, urging the energy entrepreneurs not to be confused and to actively participate in making the convention successful.TAG_OPEN_div_12
