Kathmandu. Those constructing temporary÷permanent houses and tents without permission have been urged to vacate the public land. The Department of Roads has urged locals to immediately vacate around 80 percent of the land encroached upon by the East-West Mahendra Highway from Gaddachauki of Kanchanpur to Chisapani of Kailali.

If the structures constructed by encroaching the road boundary are not removed, the construction works will be removed as per the sub-section (3) of Section 19 of the Public Roads Act, 2031 BS and the expenses incurred for such work will be recovered from the concerned person or institution.

Issuing a 15-day notice, the Road Division Office, Mahendranagar has been urging the people to vacate the public land stating that the road boundary is 25÷25 meters away from the center.

Temporary shelters, waiting houses, toilets and other structures have been constructed in many places along the 126 kilometers section from Gaddachauki to Chisapani for long.
