Mustang. The Mustang Customs Office based at Nhechung in Lomanthang-1 of Upper Mustang has collected Rs 6.66 billion in revenue till May 30.

This amount of customs revenue has been collected from the export and import of North Korala transit point (Nepal-China) which came into full operation from September 31.

Bidur Chundal, chief of the customs office, said that the customs revenue was collected from the import of goods through the North Korala border point of Nepal and China. According to Chundal, the customs revenue has been collected from the import of electric vehicles (EVs), other goods as well as festival-targeting clothes, cosmetics goods, electronic goods and other goods imported to Nepal via Korala border point.

Likewise, the customs revenue was collected from the export of goods to China via Korala border point, according to Chief Chandal. Nepali products and handicrafts have been exported to China from Nepal. According to the Mustang Customs Office, 2,997 electric vehicles entered Nepal through the Nepal-China North Korala border point between September and June 30.

Customs revenue of Rs 6.76 billion has been collected from the import of electric vehicles (EVs) entering Nepal via Korala customs check. Lately, the process of import of electric vehicles entering Nepal from China via Korala border point has been embroiled in controversy. The government has also brought 649 electric vehicles entering Nepal through Korala border point as it has passed customs clearance.

KATHMANDU: The government has formed a three-member probe committee to investigate into the import of electric vehicles entering Nepal through Korala border point. The committee has already carried out monitoring of the electronic vehicles seized by the Armed Police Force at Hemja of Kaski, Kushma of Parbat, Jomsom of Mustang and Korala of Mustang.
