Kathmandu. A bold digital campaign aimed at decentralizing the wave of the Kathmandu-centric tech sector at the provincial level, rapidly transforming the landscape of Nepal’s IT economy, has been launched.
Technology leaders and policy makers have unveiled a historic policy roadmap with the slogan of Kathmandu to Biratnagar Digital Corridor to make Koshi a regional IT hub. The blueprint of which has been included in the strategic document called “Koshi Regional IT Hub”.
This provincial digital campaign has been launched by Computer Association Nepal (CAN) Federation Koshi Province in special collaboration with CAN Federation Morang District Branch, Sunsari District Branch, and Udayapur District Chapter. This historic dialogue program was presided over by Sandesh Rai, President of CAN Federation, Koshi Province and was held in the presence of Chiranjibi Adhikari, Acting President of CAN Federation.
Thakur Kumar Shrestha, central secretary of CAN Federation, while praising the conceptual blueprint developed by IT Leader Chiranjibi Adhikari, said, “We will definitely fully implement this road map in coordination and cooperation with the Koshi Province government.” “
Sandesh Rai, President of CAN Federation, Koshi Province, in his leadership speech, said, “Koshi region is a regional IT hub in itself and we are fully ready to coordinate and collaborate with every stakeholder of this region. “
Sumit Kumar Shah, President of CAN Federation, Morang, emphasized the importance of human capital and said, “We need to promote local talents and technology startups through policy debates and advocacy. “
Lokendra Prasad Dhakal, President of CAN Federation, Sunsari, said, “Promoting local level IT professionals and entrepreneurs is the key to building a sustainable technology ecosystem in Nepal. “
Likewise, Rajan Acharya, President of CAN Federation, Udayapur, said, “To realize the decentralized concept of Digital Nepal, we need to build a strong ICT foundation in the Koshi region. “
According to the strategic document, there is a strong possibility that Biratnagar-Itahari-Dharan can be developed as a single comprehensive technology corridor.
From local demand to global exports, the main objective of the Kathmandu to Biratnagar Digital Corridor Campaign is not limited to just training and seminars. Its main mission is to produce “Nepal Med Software” and export it to the world market.
Under this, health-tech, agri-tech, cyber security and AI-enabled public services have been placed in the priority areas.
The post-Budget 2083/84 period is the best opportunity to implement this roadmap. For the time being, a special task force will be formed under the 0-100 days action plan and mapping of local IT companies and freelancers will be started.
