Kathmandu. Krishna Prasad Acharya, former president of the Independent Power Producers’ Association of Nepal (IPPAN), has said that the private sector should be opened up in electricity trade and distribution.

Acharya said this while delivering the welcome address at the 26th General Meeting and 8th convention of IPPAN.

“The way the government opened up the private sector to production,” he said, “It should be opened up in electricity trade and distribution.” The private sector is as ready in trade and distribution as it is in production. ’

He also suggested that the one-door system be implemented immediately. He said that the energy sector has become a hindrance and urged the government to ease it.

Who will lose by adding RCOD? Acharya said that the RCOD should be increased in lump sum for the projects that have been delayed due to the government.
