. KATHMANDU: A team led by Acting Managing Director of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), Dirgha Kumar Shrestha, visited the hydropower projects in Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts in view of the risks and challenges that might occur during the rainy season.

The team comprising Transmission Directorate Chief Rajan Dhakal and Kathmandu Grid Division Chief Prajwal Man Shrestha inspected the production, transmission and distribution system of Devighat Hydropower Center, Trishuli Hydropower Center, Nuwakot Distribution Center and the under-construction Upper Trishuli 3 B Hydropower Project.TAG_OPEN_span_16

During the inspection, Acting Executive Director Shrestha directed the bodies concerned to implement the necessary preparedness and safety measures to minimize the damage caused by the rainfall.TAG_OPEN_span_15

He also stressed the need for collective efforts to maintain effective coordination among generation, transmission and distribution systems for safe, reliable and continuous power supply and to advance the works related to timely maintenance, preparedness and risk mitigation.

He also inquired about the status of conservation and rehabilitation of structures including dams and headworks damaged by floods in the past.

He and his team have constructed the Trishuli-3 B Hub Substation and Tower No 3 B under the Trishuli-3 B Hub-Matatirtha 220 KV transmission line, which was damaged by last year’s floods. 8 and 15, and Tower No. 8 and 15 under Trishuli-3B Hub-Samundratar 132 kV Transmission Line. He also inspected 12.

He also directed MTPD chief Prajjwal Man Shrestha to forward the works required to make the transmission system safe, reliable and seamless in the coming rainy season. “Pay attention to complete the necessary security works at the earliest in view of the possible risks and challenges at this time as the rainy season is approaching,” he said, adding that the reconstruction and maintenance works should be expedited to keep the power generation efficient and to avoid any disruption during the rainy season.
