Finance Minister directs Director Generals of Department of Customs and Revenue to work honestly on ‘Mission 16 trillion revenue’ collection

Kathmandu. Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle has directed the Director General of the Department of Customs and Inland Revenue to carry out works honestly to achieve the target of revenue collection.

Director General duo Yamlal Bhusal and Dr Bhishma Kumar Bhusal, who have been given new responsibility of the Department of Customs and Inland Revenue Department, and Joint Secretary Prem Prasad Acharya, who has been given the responsibility of Deputy Director General of the Department of Customs, have been given special directives at the Ministry on Tuesday. “Invest honestly for Mission Rs 16 trillion to meet the revenue target by keeping business atmosphere and morale high,” said Finance Minister Wagle, adding, “The Ministry will provide all kinds of support to stop leakage, increase voluntary tax filing and encourage tax payment.” “

On the occasion, Finance Minister Dr Wagle directed the customs and revenue system to be efficient and transparent by linking them with the information technology.

He was of the view that the country’s dependence on external loan would be reduced by strengthening the country’s income by increasing customs and tax income and the country would take the pace of development on its own capacity. He said that improving the business environment and preventing leakage in the system is the main task while taking steps to meet the customs and tax targets.

Finance Minister Dr. On the occasion, Wagle also urged the two directors general and newly appointed Deputy Director General of Customs, Prem Prasad Acharya, to be strict on the employees involved in wrongdoings in subordinate bodies and to make them aware of the guarantee of reward and encouragement to those working honestly.

Finance Minister Wagle said that the results would be seen in the next 6-8 months.

The Cabinet meeting held on July 1 had transferred Joint Secretaries Yamlal Bhusal, Dr. Bhishma Kumar Bhusal and Prem Prasad Acharya to the Ministry of Finance.

The Ministry had assigned the responsibility of Director General of Customs and Inland Revenue and Deputy Director General of Customs respectively to the joint secretaries who were present at the Ministry on July 5.

The three joint secretaries who have been given new responsibilities said that they would follow the minister’s directives honestly.
