Self-immolation: When Prem Prasad self-immolated, Balen had said that the state has failed utmost, every strata, agency and organs have failed

Kathmandu. A youth set himself ablaze in front of the Department of Passport in Tripureshwor of Kathmandu on Thursday due to financial constraints.

The deceased is Ganesh Nepali, 25, of Soru Rural Municipality-1 in Mugu district. He chose the path of self-immolation after the Metropolitan Police pleaded with him to open the lock after the Metropolitan Police did not listen to his plea. He had to pay a fine of Rs 1,000 after his motorcycle got locked. According to the locals, he also complained that he did not have money. He passed away at 11:30 am today.

The country is in mourning due to this incident. A Nepali youth self-immolated due to lack of money. With this incident, the incident of 3 years ago has come to light.

Prem Prasad Acharya of Ilam attempted self-immolation outside the parliament building in New Baneshwor on January 25, 2022. He died while undergoing treatment at Burn Hospital in Kirtipur. However, the Nepalis who did not die today were kept at Bir Hospital instead of Bern Hospital in Kirtipur.

Acharya, who passed away, had informed through social media that he had to commit suicide as he could not succeed in every work.

When Acharya committed suicide, the government was under the leadership of Prachanda. Ravi Lamichhane was the Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister. At that time, the current Prime Minister Balen Sah was the mayor of Kathmandu.

At the time of Acharya’s death, the then Mayor Shah had written a long status and claimed that the incident was a gross failure of the state.

He said, “ A citizen does everything he can to want the progress he sees. A citizen informs everyone he knows or knows that he is going to commit suicide by describing his past and future. A citizen immolates himself by pouring petrol on himself in front of the parliament building. There may be many reasons and many signs of self-immolation, but the biggest reason is the state. And the most horrific sign is the extreme failure of the state. The state has failed in his business, in his despair, in his plea for help, in his safety, in his rescue, in every step he has suffered. Every level, agency and organ of the state has failed.

As citizens, as people’s representatives, as leaders of power, as media, we are all failing.TAG_OPEN_em_25 We do not have the consciousness to fulfill the normal responsibilities of the citizens. I don’t think it’s unusual for us to disobey the rules and take turns. As people’s representatives, we do not have the courage to move ahead with good intentions to follow the rules. I think I don’t want to be nice and I don’t think I’m going to be picked again next time. As the leaders of power, we are focused on destabilizing politics for the sake of power rather than making all these equations dynamic for progress. As a media, no one is interested in promoting one’s business or producing more studies and news that will help. We are busy making big news about what a person in a certain position writes and comments on Facebook.

Prem Prasad Acharya rebelled when so many things failed at once due to the wrong path. That revolt is one of the most shocking events of our time. I express my heartfelt condolences to his family and his heartfelt condolences.

} The metropolis is working very sensitively to learn skills and construct structures that will be used to increase the standard of living of those skills so that no other person has to face the same fate as Prem Prasad Acharya. I appeal to everyone from the civic level to the federal government to play their role strictly. Let’s all follow the rules. Let’s all behave within the rules. Again, I pay heartfelt tribute to Prem Prasad Acharya.

But PM Balen has not said anything on the issue of Nepalis so far.
