Nepalese or Indian citizens can bring and carry up to Rs 25,000 per person

. Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has made provision for Nepali or Indian citizens to bring and exchange up to Rs 25,000 per person.

The Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) on Thursday issued a notice regarding the import and transfer of cash and foreign currency from Nepal.TAG_OPEN_div_24

“With effect from November 9, 2016, Nepali or Indian citizens can buy, carry and exchange the Indian banknotes of Indian currency in circulation up to a limit of Rs 25,000 per person,” the notice reads.TAG_OPEN_div_22

Also, there is a provision that a Nepali citizen is not allowed to carry Indian currency to any country other than India or bring Indian rupees to Nepal from other countries

Reminding the government of the prevailing legal provisions regarding bringing in and taking out of Nepal, it clarified that up to 5,TAG_OPEN_div_17 000 US dollars can be brought to Nepal without declaring.

According to the notice issued by the Foreign Exchange Management Department of the Rastra Bank, the Foreign Exchange (Regulation) Act, 2019 and the Money Laundering Prevention Act, 2064 (2007) can bring cash currency up to 5,000 US dollars (equivalent in case of Indian rupees and up to 5,000 US dollars in case of other foreign currencies) without declaring foreign currency duty TAG_OPEN_div_15 ।
