Kathmandu. In the last fiscal year, Nepal imported 2,267,419 smartphones worth Rs 48.69 billion.
According to the Department of Customs, phones worth Rs 35.54 billion were imported in the same period of the previous fiscal year. During this period, the import of phones increased by 37 percent.
In the last fiscal year, the state earned Rs 9.08 billion in revenue while the import of phones amounted to Rs 48.69 billion.
During this period, most of the phones were imported from China. A total of 1,889,664 smartphones worth Rs 36.79 billion were imported from China.
After China, most of the phones were imported from India.
During the period, 364,842 units of phones worth Rs 10.99 billion were imported from India. Similarly, 1,789 units of phones worth Rs 223.815 million were imported from the US during the period.
Most of the phones in Nepal are imported from China, India, America, Australia, UAE, Japan, Cambodia, South Korea, UK, Qatar, Canada, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Portugal, Bangladesh, Saudi Arabia, Finland, Israel, New Zealand, Kuwait, among other countries.
