Kathmandu. Major highways and road sections have been obstructed in various districts of the country due to incessant rainfall while vehicular movement has been restricted on some roads in view of possible risk of flood and landslide.

According to the Nepal Police Headquarters, all types of vehicles have been banned on the Khurkot-Nepalthok-Katunjebesi section of the BP Highway linking Kavrepalanchowk-Sindhuli from 6:00 pm to 4:00 am today.

The road will remain closed for traffic until further notice and vehicles will be allowed from 4 am to 6 pm due to the risk of floods.

All types of vehicles have been banned on the Kanti Highway in Makwanpur from 5:00 pm to 5:00 am in view of the risk of rainfall. Similarly, the Mechi highway at Rajduwali of Ilam municipality-9 has been completely obstructed due to the landslide.

Various sections of the Araniko Highway have been completely obstructed due to landslides in Jirokilo, Kodari and Liping areas of Bhotekoshi rural municipality in Sindhupalchowk.

Dolakha: The Lamasanghu-Ramechhap road section at Kirnetar of Tamakoshi rural municipality-5 in Dolakha district has been obstructed due to erosion by the Samakoshi River. However, an alternative route has been brought into operation via the premises of Khimti Rural Electric Cooperative, police said.

The Pasang Lhamu road section has been completely disrupted after the Trishuli river swept away the road at Khalte area of Uttargaya rural municipality-5 in Rasuwa district.

The Nagma-Gamgadhi road section has been obstructed at Talcha area of Chhayanath Rara municipality-7 in Mugu district and the Kaligandaki corridor section at Belbagar of Jaimini municipality-8 in Baglung district has also been obstructed due to landslides.

PALPA: The Kaligandaki Corridor has been completely disrupted due to landslides at Litipiring area of Nisdi rural municipality-1 in Palpa district.

Similarly, landslides have obstructed the Kantilok Path at Bagmati rural municipality-3 of Lalitpur, the mid-hill highway at Bhume rural municipality-3, Kandabazaar of Bhume rural municipality-3 of Rukum (east), the Beni-Jomsom road section at Raghuganga rural municipality-2 Baiseri of Myagdi and the Maldhunga-Beni road section at Jaljala rural municipality-7, Kerabari of Parbat.

Police have urged one and all to take stock of the condition of the road and adopt precaution before travelling to the area as the risk of landslide, flood and road erosion is high during the rainy season.
