Kathmandu. Landslides have occurred in several places of the country due to incessant rainfall while major highways and roads have been obstructed due to erosion by rivers and streams in some places.
Releasing details till 6:00 am today, Nepal Police Headquarters said vehicular movement has been disrupted on various road sections of Kavrepalanchowk, Sindhupalchowk, Ilam, Rasuwa, Rukum West and Lamjung.
The vehicular movement has come to a complete halt after a landslide occurred at 4.00 am this along the BP Highway at Narke of Roshi rural municipality-9 in Kavrepalanchowk.
Similarly, the Khurkot-Nepalthok-Katunjebesi-Sindhuli BP Highway has been closed for vehicular movement from 18:00 pm to 4:00 am in view of possible floods. Vehicles will be allowed to operate from 4 am to 18 pm.
All types of vehicles have been banned along the Kanti Highway in Makwanpur district at night due to incessant rain. Vehicular movement along the road has been prohibited from 17:00 pm to 5:00 am.
The Mechi highway has been completely obstructed due to the accumulation of mud at Rajduwali of Ilam municipality-9. Police have urged all concerned to use alternative roads in the area.
Vehicular movement along the Araniko Highway in Sindhupalchowk district has come to a complete halt due to landslides that occurred at Zerokilo of Bhotekoshi rural municipality-4 in Sindhupalchowk district. Meanwhile, the Iku landslide at Kodari of Bhotekoshi rural municipality-2 has also affected the transport service. The Araniko Highway has also been disrupted after the road caved in at Liping of Ward No. 2 of the same rural municipality.
Similarly, landslides occurred at Dumre of Chautara Sangachowkgadhi municipality-9 at 5.00 am today completely obstructed the Araniko Highway. The Trishuli-Mailung-Syafrubesi dirt road at Khalte of Uttargaya rural municipality-5 in Rasuwa district has been completely disrupted after the Trishuli river swept away the dirt road. Similarly, the Jajarkot-Dolpa road section along the Bheri Corridor near Rijegard Khola of Aathbiskot municipality-6 in Rukum West has also been obstructed due to landslides.
LAMJUNG: Vehicular movement along the Mid-Hill Highway has been completely disrupted due to a landslide that occurred around Bimirebhanjyang of Madhyanepal municipality-10 in Lamjung district last night. Police have urged the commuters to use alternative roads in the area.
According to the Nepal Police Headquarters, efforts are on to resume the obstructed road and bring the vehicular movement into operation. The public has been urged to take necessary precaution while traveling on the roads as more landslides and floods may occur due to the rainfall.
