5 major decisions of the Council of Ministers: From declaration of martyrs to appointments

. The government has taken several important decisions through the cabinet meeting. The meeting decided to declare the four deceased as martyrs, appoint the executive director of the Foreign Employment Board and make public the report on the sale and purchase of shares of Ncell.

1. Tax exemption on ambulances and hearse
KATHMANDU: The government has decided to waive clean infrastructure investment fee and value added tax (VAT) on ambulances and mortuary vehicles imported or produced in Nepal.TAG_OPEN_div_35 The decision has been taken to encourage the use of electric vehicles and to provide tax exemption to vehicles used for health and essential services.
2. Declaration of martyrdom of four people

The government has decided to declare four people killed during demonstrations in Sunsari and Siraha districts as martyrs.TAG_OPEN_div_32 Om Prakash Mehta, Jaya Prakash Mehta and Rabindra Kumar Mehta of Sunsari district and Ganesh Kumar Yadav of Siraha district were declared martyrs.
3. Agreement to open Consulate Office of Portugal in Kathmandu{
TAG_OPEN_div_29 The government has decided to give consent to the Portuguese government to open a consular office in Kathmandu. The expansion of Portugal’s consular service in Nepal is expected to facilitate Portuguese citizens in Nepal and the Portuguese consular service seekers based in Portugal to get the required services.
4. Nirmal Kumar Upreti as Executive Director of the Foreign Employment Board{
The Cabinet has decided to appoint Nirmal Kumar Upreti of Bara to the post of Executive Director of the Foreign Employment Board.TAG_OPEN_div_26 Upreti will now lead the board dealing with various issues related to Nepali migrant workers and their families.
5. Publishing Ncell Share Purchase and Sale Report
The government has also decided to make public the report of the Ncell Share Purchase and Sale, 2080 BS constituted under the coordination of former Auditor General Tanka Mani Sharma Dangal.TAG_OPEN_div_23 The government has taken the decision to make public the report prepared by the committee formed to study and investigate the issues related to the purchase and sale of Ncell’s shares.
