Kathmandu. Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane and Chief Minister of Bagmati Province Kiran Thapa held a meeting at the party office in Banasthali today. During the meeting, issues related to the latest disaster, relief and rescue as well as coordination between the three tiers of government were discussed.

Chief Minister Thapa said that the state government had to work in its own way due to lack of effective coordination among the three tiers of government. He expressed regret that the provincial government was not informed even when the Prime Minister reached the affected areas.

Stating that it was difficult to send relief materials to the disaster-hit areas, Chief Minister Thapa said that the relief materials have been collected in Battar area and it has been difficult to reach the higher areas.

He pointed out the need for the federal, state and local levels to clearly distinguish who should do what work. He said that since the impact of climate change would be long-lasting, all the three levels of government should work in a coordinated manner immediately to relocate the settlements on the banks of the rivers to safer places.

During the meeting, RSP President Lamichhane said that the provincial government should play an effective role in connecting the local and federal governments during the time of disaster. He said that they are aware that all the governments should work in coordination with each other in the current situation.

Lamichhane also pledged to make coordination for all necessary support from the federal government.
