Last winter, Russia repeatedly attacked Ukraine’s power generation and transmission infrastructure, causing major damage to the country’s energy system. As a result, millions of people had to face problems with electricity and heat supply amid the extreme cold.

In recent months, both sides have used long-range drones and missiles to target each other’s military and energy infrastructure, warehouses, oil refineries and ports. There have also been civilian casualties in those attacks.

The Russian Defense Ministry has claimed to have attacked an asbestos and cement factory in Kyiv on Sunday. The ministry claims that explosives are stored in the factory’s warehouse and drones and weapons are produced there.

Earlier on Saturday, a large explosion occurred when Russia attacked an ammunition depot in the suburb of Kyiv. According to local officials, at least 37 people were killed in the incident.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian officials say a Ukrainian drone attacked an oil refinery in northwestern Russia. They said a fire broke out after the attack.TAG_OPEN_div_13
