Nuwakot. More than 3,000 people have been rescued due to the unimaginable floods in the Bhotekoshi River on the morning of August 26.

Coordinator of the District Disaster Management Committee and Chief District Officer of Nuwakot, Shambhu Prasad Regmi, said that 3,029 people have been rescued from different places of Rasuwa and Nuwakot due to floods till last night.

Among them, 2,776 are Nepali nationals and 253 are foreigners. CDO Regmi said that 624 people were rescued in the last 24 hours. “Those who were taking shelter in safe places to save their lives from the floods were rescued by helicopter. CDO Regmi said, “After examining their health, those needing treatment have been referred to health institutions accordingly while the rest have been reunited with their families.” ”

The rescue of those trapped in the Bhotekoshi floods has reached the final stage except that it is said to be inside the tunnel of the hydropower project. However, according to CDO Regmi, recce is being carried out regularly by helicopter in Timure, Syaphrubesi, Mailung and other places of Rasuwa.

Similarly, more than 1,500 family members have filed applications for the disappearance of Bhotekoshi in the floods till Sunday. Chief of the District Police Office, Superintendent of Police Bipin Regmi said that 1,558 applications have been received for the search of their relatives from different places of Nuwakot and Rasuwa. According to him, an application can be made to the website of Nepal Police, District Police Office, Administration Office and Shree No. 1 Military Training Center Bidur for the search for the missing persons. A joint security team with the help of helicopters, trained dogs and drone cameras is active in the search and rescue of the missing and trapped in the floods.

So far, 95 bodies have been collected in Nuwakot among those who died in the floods. The bodies were collected through the search and rescue operation by deploying joint security teams at 30 different places in Nuwakot. The police have made public the details with photos to identify the bodies collected. The bodies have been sent from Nuwakot to Teaching Hospital Maharajgunj, Kathmandu for post-mortem examination, so the concerned family has been requested to contact the hospital.
